Can a field technician find in a minute what is buried in ten years of documentation?
They can when the corpus is indexed with the plant, the revision and the permissions attached, and the answer cites the manual and its version. This is the case where deploying on-premise stops being a preference and becomes a requirement.
Description
An agent over manuals, schematics, incident history and procedures, answering with the document and revision it came from, scoped by plant and role, deployable wherever the data policy requires.
The problem
The documentation exists. Scattered across drives, PDFs and ticketing systems, with revisions nobody reconciled. Much of the useful knowledge is not written down at all: it sits with the technicians who are about to retire. On a live installation, a wrong answer is a safety matter.
How we solve it
RenBase indexes the technical corpus with access control by plant and role. Every answer cites the manual and its revision, so a technician can check before acting. Resolved incidents feed back in, which is how the unwritten knowledge starts getting written down. It deploys on-premise when the data or the connectivity require it.
What it returns
Time to find an answer collapses, and the knowledge stops leaving the company when a person does. Every answer carries the revision it relied on.
KPIs to track
What to measure to know whether this is working. We define the metrics with you before starting, chosen so that it is hard to look good without having done well.
- Time to the correct answer
- Not time to the first answer. A fast wrong answer on a live installation is worse than a slow search.
- Answers citing the revision in force
- The manual and its revision, so the technician can check before acting.
- Queries resolved without a senior technician
- Measures whether the knowledge is moving off the people who hold it.
- Corpus coverage
- How much of the critical knowledge is indexed. Often the real ceiling, and the cheapest thing to fix.
